Mrs. Johnson's at the dam 1931 |
Description |
The buildings were originally a logging camp below the Rest Lake dam (ca1887-1905). During the 1920s the buildings were used as rental cottages. The note on the back of the pictures implies Mrs. Johnson was the owner, not specifically stating whether she lived there or operated a resort at this location. Newspaper clippings list Mr. and Mrs. Walcott Johnson as living at Rest Lake in 1920. The cabins were later rented under the Win-Mar name which was owned by Johnson's daughter, Winnie Young. |
