Slot machines provided an additional source of revenue for businesses during difficult financial times.

Henry A.Voss is driving his Chris Craft with passengers on Spider Lake in front of the resort. 1944 ca - Per Ruthie Gardner: This was her grandfather's (Henry Voss') big old Chris Craft. It had wicker furniture in it to sit on. He took guests for rides and pulled surfboards behind it. When it became too costly to maintain and operate, he donated it to a group of nuns. The passengers may be some of the girls that worked at the resort. Palmer Hanson's house is in the background- Spider Lake in Voss bay. ca 1944

He shares many wonderful, and funny, family stories from over the years. 1915-1986 - Bud recorded these memories for his daughters, Ginny and Elizabeth. His recollections include what summer life was like in this area in the 1910s through the 1980s.

Two employees wear aprons and smile at the camera while standing behind a counter. Note the "Ruthie" pie in the foreground and her specially selected flying pig wall decor. Ruthie Dickerson Gardner, owner, was known for her homemade pies and sense of humor.

The slot machine on the fireplace mantel belonged to resort founder Henry A. Voss. Note the location of the fireplace in contrast to the picture in Photos Catalog #2018.2.110 when this building housed Voss' Palm Garden dance hall. Upon closing of the dance hall the building was reconfigured to house the Coffee Shop and Bar.

Dedication speech given by Kay Krans at the unveiling of the historical roadside marker in Manitowish Waters on August 24, 2024. - Her speech tells the story of the FBI raid on Little Bohemia Lodge on April 22,1934 in an attempt to capture the Dillinger gang hiding out there. The historic marker commemorates the individuals wounded and killed by the gang as they made their escape.
