An article about muskie fishing that opens with the legend of Chief Manitowish and haunted Manito Island (referred to as Ship Island). 9/25/1921 - The reporter discusses the legend of Ship Island being surrounded by a chain of fire to frighten the "pale face" away. 9. Charles & Catherine Doriot's Cedar Lodge (aka Clear Lodge) on Stone Lake. ca 1908-1917 - The resort was located on Belter's/Beaumont's island. Doriot shuttered the resort from 1917-1920 and purchased Deer Park Lodge. The resort was listed as Stone Lake Resort on a 1918 Outer's magazine map. Gus Koerner purchased the property from Doriot in 1920. Included is an excerpt from John LaFave's memoirs about a brawl at the resort between Louie LaPorte and George Devine.

18. Deer Park Lodge employee Rita Anderson recalls the four years she worked at the resort. 1956-1960 - Rita worked as a cabin cleaner, lobby girl, play school manager and eventually was a waitress.
