4. Abstract for lots 79,80 &81 in Shore Acres development on south-east end of Rest Lake. 1894-1912 - E.R. Perkins, developer of Shore Acres, acquired the property in 1910. It was later owned by the Mark Leistickow family until his death in 2021 when the Manitowish Waters Lakes Assoc acquired it to keep as an undeveloped lot per Mr. Leistickow's wishes. 8. Abstract for the northwest 1/4 of the south-east quarter of Section 36 Township 42 Range 5E, specifically a portion of the Trout River between Alder and Wild Rice Lakes. 1872-1977 - The property had several individual owners until 1889 when purchased by the Dells Lumber (and Shingle) Company. Timber rights were sold to the Flambeau Lumber Co. in 1901. Dell Lumber sold the entire north 1/2 of the SE 1/4 to Richard Southgate in 1910. Wife Ella inherits the property which passes to her second husband Jacob E Himes in 1923. Himes loses the property; a sheriff's sale in 1929 show it is purchased by the Aid Association for Lutherans. In 1946 Harold and Clara Vorreyer purchase the NW 1/4 of the SE 1/4. The Vorreyer family sold it to Donald and Anne Marie Jaroch in 1965 and 1973.

14. A hearing was held at Buck's Spider Lake Resort regarding the high water mark on the chain. 1914 - The Chippewa & Flambeau Improvement Co, owner of the dam, wanted to control the water level on the chain for water power purposes. The Wisconsin Railroad Commission and local citizens thought the levels were too high and damaging fish reproduction. See record # 2021.001.002 to read where the WI Supreme Court sided with the Railroad Commission to maintain control.

15. A news clipping that refers to the Rest Lake dam as the "Henry" dam. 10/27/1916 - The clipping reports that the Wisconsin Supreme Court affirmed a lower Circuit Court ruling that the Wisconsin Railroad Commission has the authority to require the owner of the Rest Lake dam, the Chippewa & Flambeau Improvement Company, to fix the water levels controlled by the dam. Local residents complained that the owner's level of a maximum 15' head was too high. The Railroad Commission changed it to 8 1/2' maximum.

16. Article about Chicago artist Frances Badger--her connection to the Northwoods and Big Lake and her paintings of Ojibwa harvesting wild rice. 1908-1930s - Ms. Badger was employed as part of Franklin D. Roosevelt's Work Progress Administration to paint murals of American life. MWHS purchased two prints of her paintings of Ojibwa harvesting wild rice on Rice Creek near her family's estate, Keego Lodge, on Big Lake. 17. Article about the history of Beaumont's (aka Belter's) Island Resort and tavern on Stone Lake. 1904-1960 - The island was best know for the tavern where there was plenty of entertainment. Customers needed to ring the bell for the launch to pick them up from the mainland. Previous owners were Ed McGuire (1904), a boys camp, Koerner's, Doriots (Cedar Lake Lodge- ca 1916), and Hungers Cedar Lodge Resort (ca 1926-1931).

19. A series of news clippings documenting the Staar family's time at their seasonal cottage on the Rest Lake island near the channel. - Frank and Minnie Staar (Chicago) owned the island and a small mainland parcel since approx 1905. By the fall of 1910, Judge George Kersten was listed as "visiting" and the island was referred to as the Staar and Kersten cottage. Daughter Minna marries Judge George Kersten in 1912. The island was later referred to as "Kersten's Island".
