He shares many wonderful, and funny, family stories from over the years. 1915-1986 - Bud recorded these memories for his daughters, Ginny and Elizabeth. His recollections include what summer life was like in this area in the 1910s through the 1980s.

4. Charles "Cap" Smith family pictures of a 3 day canoe trip down the Manitowish and Flambeau Rivers to Park Falls, WI. 1927 - The dam in Springstead was built ca 1925 so the Flambeau Flowage was continuing to flood in 1927. The images show the canoes paddling through flooded high ground with trees. Included in the record are excerpts from Charles "Bud" Smith Jr.'s recollections of this trip.

6. Man made canal connecting Little Trout Lake to Alder Lake. 1890-1928 - Richard Southgate used this canal to access the Manitowish chain from his summer estate on Little Trout Lake. There was also a canal to access the Lac du Flambeau chain. Per Bud Smith, the canals were in disrepair by 1917. The Smith family used them to "portage" on canoe trips. The last passable trip was in the early 1930s.

7. New clipping noting that Thomas Sleight Sr. was courting teacher Albina Dulick. 1918 - Ms. Dulick was a teacher at the Deer Park School. Included in this record is recollections by student Charles "Bud" Smith Jr. about Sleight stopping by the school house to visit Dulick. They eventually married, operated resorts and raised a family in town.

11. Spider Lake School ca 1920s - The schoolhouse was located on Deer Park Road and often referred to as the Deer Park School. The first teacher was Albina Dulic Sleight.
