9. Mrs. Maude Johnson by Michael Dunn 1930-1977 - A narrative by Michael Dunn reminiscing about a Mrs. Maude Johnson who the author remembers as their laundry lady when he was young. She lived at Woodchuck Hollow and then later moved to Little Star Lake where she opened Deer Trail Cottages.

Reverse of postcard has been used and posted with a 1 cent 1934 Yosemite stamp. Postmark appears to be 1935. Handwritten message on postcard mentions going to see the "Dillinger Hangout". This would have been mailed less than one year after the shootout and less than one year after Dillinger's death.

Two news clippings. 4/22/1934 - Mr. Johnson, carpenter, was renting a cottage with his wife at Mitchell's Rest Lake Resort when he was forced to drive John Dillinger, Red Hamilton and Homer Van Meter to Park Falls. He was "released" once there and the gang drove on to Saint Paul, MN.

Leon Gleckman, one of the biggest crime bosses in St. Paul, is the main focus. Gleckman's criminal activities of bootlegging, gambling and prostitution brought him wealth, power and control. Some of the headlines include his kidnapping to a cabin in Manitowish Waters. He died in a car accident in 1941 that some speculate was a suicide.
