Ms. Maude Johnson started this resort, building four cabins, in the early 1930s. By 1949 she sold a couple of the cabins to Tom Crawford who rented them under the name Little Star Resort. The other cabins were sold to Oscar Nehring by 1945 and continued to be operated as Deer Trail Cottages.By 1953 these cabins were sold and were being rented under the name Star Beach Cottages. The 1956 Chamber business map lists Nerhing's Service Garage as still being located here. |
