10. Manito Lodge on Little Star Lake- history from relative Barbara McFarland. 2022 - The resort was established by Barbara's grandparents, William and Laura Hintz. Her aunt Mildred "Milly" Oberg operated it before selling a lot to the Dunn family and then giving the remaining property to her sister Florence's daughter, June. June married Sam Johns and their daughter Susan Wolek continues to own part of the property. Barbara also discusses her mother Trudy Pagburn's restaurant The Pantry and information about the extended Johns family. Subsequent correction to correspondence: Pam Johns Stephens did NOT own the Bavarian Inn while married to Greg Swanberg. See attached image of the email correspondence.

This 1881 map of Wisconsin shows the railroads in the state, including the Wisconsin Central Railroad, whose line between Portage and Ashland was completed that year. The railroad land grant lands for sale in the vicinity of the Wisconsin Central's line are indicated on the map and a description of the timber, soils, schools, and churches in this area appears on the verso in English, German, Norwegian and Swedish. 12. Newspaper clippings about Matt J. Plunkett 1922-1937 - Matt was the son of pioneers Mr. & Mrs. M.J. "Jim" Plunkett. As per the clippings, Matt held assessor and surveyor positions and was selling land in Manitowish Waters. Other records indicate Matt owned land that later became Northwood Lodge on Little Star Lake and the property Michaelis' acquired for their Birch Bay Resort on the Rest Lake Channel. He also built the cabins at Haakenson's Resort (later Bazso's Hillcrest). Included is a news clip about an auto accident Matt and his wife were involved in.
