8. CCC Camp Mercer Pictorial Review (Yearbook) 1939 - This booklet shows the history, people and events of the Sparta District Company 660 Camp Mercer in 1939. Attached is the complete book, including District officers and support staff, as well as those specific to Camp Mercer. Also attached are excerpts from the booklet that pertain only to Camp Mercer. One page in the booklet has a signed handwritten note by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR). Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) were established as part of his New Deal after the Great Depression.

Wilson, forest ranger at the Trout Lake Ranger station from 1911-1952, recording the life, vision and works of his superior E.M. Griffith, Wisconsin's first state forester. It was published in 1982 but covers the time period 1903-1915.

12. Fire in Powell Marsh burns 1200-1800 acres. August 1948 - Fire may have been started by sparks from the Chicago and Northwestern engine. High winds and dry conditions flamed the fire. Damage was comparatively light as the swamp is composed mostly of grass and leatherleaf.
