4. Images of Koerner's Spider Lake Resort ca 1917-1925 - These images show that automobiles were used to reach the resort. Highway 10 was constructed in the early 1920s. The highway bridge was converted to steel at the same time. Koerner's purchased the property in 1917 from Buck's.

5. John Nutter- brief history of his life and property in the Northwoods 1883-1984 - Nutters owed property along the Manitowish River at the intersection of Highway 51 and 47. In 1984 their granddaughter, Mary Burns Bates took ownership of it. In the early 1900s John was a part owner in a "halfway" house (lodging between two towns) located on the south side of the intersection of County Roads W and K.

Michael Dunn's brief notes regarding the history of Buck's Spider Lake Resort, Deer Park Lodge and the bridge between Manitowish and Spider Lakes. 10/2004 - Note: current day Manitowish Waters was part of the Town of Lac Du Flambeau until 1927 when the Town of Spider Lake was formed. In 1939 the name was changed to the Town of Manitowish Waters. Dunn prepared these notes for the George W. Brown Jr. Museum in LdF.

10. Pictures of The Divide Resort on the Turtle Lakes in Winchester, WI ca 1920s - Established by George W Buck and son Fayette in 1891. In 1908 George sold his interest to Fayette and wife Anna. They enhanced and operated the resort until 1917 when Fayette divorced Anna and departed for Omaha, NE with his second wife Orpha Nokes Buck. Anna Seymour Buck and son Clarence operated the resort until it sold in 1940.

11. Powell Marsh or Highway G bridge across the Manitowish River south of Camp Mercer. 1934 - The bridge was removed and the steel recycled for use in World War II. The concrete abutments can be seen at the Highway 51 wayside south of Manitowish, WI, north of the Vilas-Iron County line.

13. Several pictures of the bridge between Manitowish and Spider Lakes. ca 1920s - Prior to the bridge, crossing the channel or river was done on floating rafts. Per historian Michael Dunn, the first bridge was built in about 1908 (though 1913-14 have also been sited) and it was converted to steel construction in the 1920s. Joe Ilg, long time resident, recalls Louie LaPorte hauling the steel down from the Manitowish depot. In 1915 the floor of the bridge was converted to concrete.

15. Work on Highway 51 bridge reconstruction is completed. 7/1/1949 - New clipping detailing the celebration and first vehicles to cross the newly reconstructed bridge.
