2. Hill Archery Company, Inc opens a fiberglass division near Mercer 1/22/1960 - A celebration was held to welcome this new business to what might be the Mercer Industrial Park south of town. In addition to fabricating arrowheads, the facility also made Mermaid Marine fiberglass boats. Ralph Hill opened Hill's Archery in the mid 1950s and operated the business on Alder Lake in Manitowish Waters. By 1960 H.P. Redding owned the business.

3. History of the Mercer Ranger Station 1928-1989 - The first office/residence building was constructed in 1928. The concrete block service building was built in 1933. State agency re-organizations changed the territory and staffing of this location over the years. In 1989 however it was still fully operational. I Saw Conservation Grow by Harry Kozel (1951) ca 1890-1935 - Kozel interviews Iron County "oldtimers" for their thoughts, recollections and reflections on conservation needs and efforts after the cut-over logging period. They discuss forest fires and prevention, deer populations and hunting, and fishing and stocking of lakes.

5. Peter Kirbach, of Crystal Lake, IL owned land on the north shore of Rest Lake. ca late 1920s -mid 1940s - Documents show he owned the peninsula to the west of Finn Bay, known later as Cella's Point. One news clipping infers he had a resort there, however no other documentation supports this. Kirbach, aka The Doughnut King (he was president of the Doughnut Equipment Corp), later bought land and spent time in Mercer, WI.

6. Picture and news clippings of Camp Pokegama for Girls on Echo Lake in Mercer, WI 1907-1915 - This was a summer camp that had academics and tutoring. It was associated with Kamp Keewatin for Boys, located across the lake. In 1916 this camp was combined with Camp Ancona for girls and moved to LaCrosse, WI.

8. Raymond "Blackie" Schwartz recounts being hired as a fishing guide for Al Capone. 1939-1943 - Schwartz lived and guided in the Mercer, WI area where Capone and brother Ralph had a home.

9. Several newspaper clippings about Camp Keewatin, Keewatin Academy and Camps Keewatin located on Echo Lake in Mercer. 1908-1911 - A boys camp when first established. An Academy was added by 1909 where the boys spent April through December in Mercer and January through most of March in Mississippi. Some clippings refer to Keewatin Camps, plural. There was a Camp Keewatin in Saugatuk, MI but may be unrelated.
