1. Accomplished violinist, Manitowish resident, Anna May LaPorte. 1922- ca 1980s - Anna May was educated and trained on the violin. She lived in Texas, Memphis and Milwaukee before moving to northern Wisconsin. She performed around the area and played in a band called the Rhythm Queen with sisters Geraldine and Phylis Andrews. The sign on the parade float says "Kitchen Band" although this band was a different Manitowish Waters group. The float was sponsored by the Greenhouse in Manitowish owned Ralph & Mabel Gaulke. Their son Harlan is pictured sitting next to Anna Mae.

2. Andrews Family, Manitowish, WI ca 1900 - Alexander Ramsey Andrews was born in Eau Claire, WI 1871 and died in a hotel fire in Hurley,WI in 1912. He and wife Emma had 3 children, Phyliss, Geraldine and Gordon. Emma and Phyliss were long time postmistresses at the Manitowish Post Office, where they lived. Geraldine and Phyliss were popular local musicians. Phyliss also owned Sunset Lodge on Manitowish Lake.

Barr, the Northwestern Sportsman of Milwaukee. The author provides rich details of the Northwoods post Phase 1 logging and travelling the Flambeau River prior to the creation of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. 8. Mrs. Emma Andrews tells of Early Days 11/1962 - Emma celebrated her 97th birthday. Many local residents attended. She recounted what the Manitowish area was like in the early days. At the time Mercer did not exist and the logging industry was large. She watched logs sluice through the rivers followed by a wanigan (floating cook shanty). Includes her 1965 obituary.

11. River drive of white pine logs ca 1900 - Location appears to be the Manitowish River in Manitowish, WI at the intersection of today's Highway 51 and 47. Possibly the Doriot and Sleight residences shown. The postmark is 1910 but white pine river drives were over by 1902-1905.

13. School in Manitowish, WI ca early 1900s - The first school was built in 1892. A new building was built in 1908 after fire destroyed the original school. It was located along today's Highway 51, just south of the intersection with Highway 47. It is still a private residence in 2025.
