Dolly Tirpe Remembers Manitowish Waters- a 1999 two-part Lakeland Times newspaper feature story by Joyce Laabs. 1871-1998 - Dolly recounts the story of her father Robert Loveless, an early settler and entrepreneur in the area. She shares stories and information about her husband and children as well. Included in the record is a page from her journal of recollections detailing much the same information as in the newspaper article.

10. Headquarters for Virgin Forest Park resort 1929-1935 - Built by Robert Loveless in 1929 after the family home on Alder Lake was destroyed by fire. The family lived in the back; there was a tavern and small grocery store in the front. This was the "headquarters" for resort guests. At the time the location was on Highway 10. Current address is 5190 Townline Road. In 1935 the Loveless moved this establishment to Highway 51.

13. Images of Koerner's Spider Lake Resort ca 1917-1925 - These images show that automobiles were used to reach the resort. Highway 10 was constructed in the early 1920s. The highway bridge was converted to steel at the same time. Koerner's purchased the property in 1917 from Buck's.
