2. Circle Lily Lodge sold to Beranek's 5/1/1975 and burned down on 1/19/1976 - Edward and Carol Dimmick sell Circle Lily Lodge to Roy and Cheryl Beranek (or Branik). The restaurant burns down on 1/19/1976. The Beranek family was uninjured but all possessions were lost. A benefit dinner was held at Art LaHa's Bear Bar in Winchester.

4. Fire destroys LaPorte's Shopping Center 6/30/1971 - The fire was ignited by a lightning strike to an electrical box located by the laundromat, behind the clothing store and barber shop. Included is a link to a GrocerGram trade magazine article which discusses the fire and business interruption insurance.

7. History of the Mercer Ranger Station 1928-1989 - The first office/residence building was constructed in 1928. The concrete block service building was built in 1933. State agency re-organizations changed the territory and staffing of this location over the years. In 1989 however it was still fully operational.
