Dolly Tirpe Remembers Manitowish Waters- a 1999 two-part Lakeland Times newspaper feature story by Joyce Laabs. 1871-1998 - Dolly recounts the story of her father Robert Loveless, an early settler and entrepreneur in the area. She shares stories and information about her husband and children as well. Included in the record is a page from her journal of recollections detailing much the same information as in the newspaper article.

Virgin Forest Park-a place to come and enjoy music, picnics and have a good time. 1927 - The "park" was 204 acres with about 2 million board feet of virgin pine trees.The large log paneled building was decorated with deer heads, horns and birds. As guests arrived, they may have been met by Billy and Lucy- two resident bears.

14. Virgin Forest Pavilion exterior- Alder Lake 1924-1940 - Owned by Robert Loveless. Orchestras or bands were brought in from all over the state during this era of Prohibition. The roof collapsed from snow load in 1940. Mrs. Loveless sold all property by 1942. Included is the Loveless 1910 deed and a plat map for this property.
