5. Charley & Inez Pea's 1997 interview with Joyce Laabs of the Lakeland Times 1961-1979 - The Pea's purchased the Win-Mar tavern and seven cabins from the "Win-Mar girls" (Winnie Young and Marie Zimmerman) in 1961. By 1964 they changed the name to The Pea Patch.They sold the tavern in 1978 and by 1979 they also sold all but one of the cabins. In 1998 they sold the one remaining cabin and their home on Vance Lake to moved to Mississippi.

9. Hill's Archery Supplies catalog featuring the Hlll's Hornet a 3 bladed broadhead. 1955 - This was a wholesale and retail business owned and operated by the Hill family. It was located at what today is 4795 Lavigne Road (Jim Bokern property). Attached are images of arrow head molds/dies and broadheads.

11. Lakeland Sporting Goods advertisement in the MW Chamber of Commerce guide. 1948 - Established by Edmund and Helen Kmentt after selling their Alder Lake resort. The building has an "Information" sign so it may have served as an unofficial Chamber of Commerce location. By the 1950s the Burich family lived in the building and the official Chamber office was located there. Current address for this location 5301 US Highway 51 S.

14. Oscar Hanke, manager of a soft drink parlor located at the Tower Tea Room, was accosted and shot three times on Sunday night, July 27, 1930. - Authorities thought the shooting maybe be related to an ongoing slot machine "war" or possibly resulting from Hanke's changing employment. Soda fountains or parlors were popular during Prohibition, 1920 - 1933. Hanke was arrested in 1947 for gambling violations in Hurley, WI. The Tower Tea Room building was built in 1928 by Arthur and Jo Zermuehlen. They divorced in 1930 but Jo, aka Jo Bernard, continued to own it until 1944 when the Garbers purchased it.

15. Pea Patch Saloon Motel & Saloon 1987-1997 - Judi Schmidt Arnold owned this business from 1984-1997. In 1987 Kurt Potter managed the tavern her and she moved her business, Schmidt-Haus Realty, from this location to 6080 County Hwy W. Judi's sister, Patti Roberts, aka "Pea Patch Patti", was also involved in the managing the business. By 1988 Judi's second husband, Bud Arnold became involved and the motel was added onto the tavern. The business began using the tag line "Best Motel & Saloon by a Dam Site"

16. Pea Patch Saloon with hosts Geary & Diane Wallschlaeger 1985-1986 - The Wallschlaegers ran the tavern for Judi Schmidt for a couple of years following Jerry Schmidt's unexpected death. Judi retained ownership until 1997 when she sold the business to Barry & Lisa Hopkins.

18. Theo Brown and children at the first Win-Mar establishment. ca mid to late1920s - Two of the children are Pete and Ann Brown. "Grandma Johnson" (Mrs. Walcott Johnson) is seated. Possibly her daughter, Winnie Young, behind her. A reminiscence by an early visitor to the area said the Win-Mar sold hot dogs and hamburgers at this first establishment.
