2. Several pictures of the bridge between Manitowish and Spider Lakes. ca 1920s - Prior to the bridge, crossing the channel or river was done on floating rafts. Per historian Michael Dunn, the first bridge was built in about 1908 (though 1913-14 have also been sited) and it was converted to steel construction in the 1920s. Joe Ilg, long time resident, recalls Louie LaPorte hauling the steel down from the Manitowish depot. In 1915 the floor of the bridge was converted to concrete.
