3. Henry A. Voss with his children, Lloyd and Audrey (Dickerson) in front of the Trails End cabin at Voss' Birchwood Lodge. ca 1913 - Henry A. Voss showing a fish to his children, Lloyd and Audrey. The cabin, Trails End, was part of Voss' Birchwood Lodge before it was sold to a private party many years later. When Henry would return to Minneapolis, MN in the winters, where he worked as an engraver for the Federal Mint, his wife, Ruth (LaPorte) and the children would move from their residence in the Lodge to this cabin as it was easier to heat. The current location of this cabin is 12930/129392 Palmer Road.

Ruth (LaPorte) Voss with her children, Lloyd and Audrey, standing outside the building that served as the second lodge at Voss' Birchwood Lodge. ca 1919 - Over the years three different buildings served as the main lodge at the resort. The first was located in what later became known as the Homestead Cabin (current location is on Palmer Road). The second lodge was the one in this picture, which was the residence of great-granddaughter Ruth Dickerson Gardner (ca 1980's). The third and last lodge became listed on the Register of Historic Places in 2018. It was built by Henry A. Voss and Palmer Hanson. Note the dinner bell by the lodge in this picture. Lloyd Voss is standing behind the car on the right. This was the building before the Palm Garden dance hall and coffee shop were added in the late 1920's.
