2. John Nutter- brief history of his life and property in the Northwoods 1883-1984 - Nutters owed property along the Manitowish River at the intersection of Highway 51 and 47. In 1984 their granddaughter, Mary Burns Bates took ownership of it. In the early 1900s John was a part owner in a "halfway" house (lodging between two towns) located on the south side of the intersection of County Roads W and K.

Also reported in news of John Nutter improving his farm on the Manitowish River and named Rest Haven and on May 1 the Manitowish School played the Rest Lake School in a volleyball match.
