2. Charles "Bud" Smith Jr. talks about the Smith family's history at their Olivida compound on Manitowish Lake. He shares many wonderful, and funny, family stories from over the years. 1915-1986 - Bud recorded these memories for his daughters, Ginny and Elizabeth. His recollections include what summer life was like in this area in the 1910s through the 1980s.

3. Charles S. "Cap" Smith family property, "Olivida", on Manitowish Lake. 1916-ca 1930s - These pictures show the buildings on the property-- the original log house (built in 1918; burned 1937 and rebuilt), storage building/boathouse and cabins (1924: 11 cabins originally; sold 5 in 1940). Per interviews with family members Cap Smith bought the property in 1916, stayed at Voss' in 1917 and built the log house in 1918.

Logging crew at the LaPorte logging camp on the Manitowish River, Iron County. ca 1910 - Henry LaPorte and son, George, were contracted to log three forty acre sections along the Manitowish River. The location of this camp was just west of what would later be the baseball field for the CCC Camp Mercer.
