8. Deed agreement between Joe Ilg, Sr. and the City of Ashland for ownership of Lot 5 and the southwest 1/4 of the southwest 1/4 in Section 9, Township 42N Range 5E. 1915 - Included is an 1917 map that lists Joe Ilg as the owner of Lot 5 Section 9. Of note- the agreements states that Ilg is restricted from selling the property to H.J. Stone, his family or heirs.

Excerpt from an abstract cancelling a 1918 tax deed given to Joe Ilg Sr. for Lots 3 and 7 in Section 9 Township 42N Range 5E. 1925 - Chippewa & Flambeau Improvement Co claimed the County improperly sold the lots as they were not delinquent in paying property taxes. 11. Five acre floating island on Rest Lake in front of Kuhnert's Northern Lights Hotel. August 1940 - The island then "wandered" over to the Joe Ilg property. The island had floated there in about 1925 as well. Joe Ilg Sr. was interested in mooring it to his property both times it landed there.

17. Joe Ilg Sr. family photos from Rest Lake ca 1902-1915 - Joe Ilg Sr. first came to Rest Lake in 1891. He married Leonore in 1898. They camped on the river at Reed's house (relatives of Leonore). They later camped on the site of the boat landing by the dam, which become the site of the Northern Lights Hotel in the late 1920s. In about 1915 they purchased their resort property down the shore to the east.
