News clippings referencing Peter Vance's Resort, aka Rest Lake Resort. 1896-1903 |
Scope & Content |
Per Rosetta Plunkett Wysocki's 1973 interview with historian Michael Dunn, Vances' "resort" was located on the south shore of Rest Lake, what would later become Joe Ilg's Resort. It was more of a lodge or hotel than a resort. In 1903, Vance leased the resort to A.R. Andrews, however it burned down that year. Note: The Mitchell's opened a resort on the southwest corner of Rest Lake in 1912, also named Rest Lake Resort. |
