1. "How Fur is Caught" 1894. A 5 part series chronicling fur trapping with Fay Buck in the Circle Lily and Turtle Lake areas. - A series of articles written by E. Hough for Forest and Stream, a weekly New York publication, titled "How Fur is Caught". The articles detail Hough's February 1894 journey accompanying pioneer and trapper Fay Buck running his fur trapping line in the Circle Lily and Turtle Lake areas. The last article includes his tales of joining Joe Blair of Plum Lake on the running of his trap line.

2. An interview with Harry and Alvena Kaczmarek. November 2016. - An interview with Harry and Alvena Kaczmarek. Interviewers Kay Krans and Janelle Kohl in November 2016. Harry and Alvena talk about their time owning Harry's Super Market in the Manitowish Waters/Boulder Junction area. He retired January 28, 1998 when the store was sold. He owned the store from 1957-1998. Harry also discusses his experiences with transporting eyes for the Lion's Eye Bank, his time hunting, fishing, trapping, and even dancing. 3. Arvid Seppala photos including an ad for Seppala's Cottages on Rest Lake. ca 1930s-1954 - Arvid lived on Rest Lake, current address 13828 Ilg Road (Long's). He was a mason and a guide. He would troll with silver spoon tackle and row all around Rest Lake. A frequent customer of his was Mr. Corson (owned what is now Murphy's, 6014 Zephyr Point Lane). Arvid was in charge of the timbers at the dam to control the lake level; he went through the dam twice!

5. Fayette Buck obituary and photo of his second wife, Orpha Nokes Buck. 1964 - Fayette Buck 1874-1964. The Buck Family were pioneers in northern Wisconsin in the late 1800's. They owned and operated Buck's Spider Lake Resort in Manitowish Waters and the Divide Resort in Winchester. Fayette was quite a good woodsman in his younger years. MWHS archived several published articles about his Northwoods guiding and trapping adventures.

6. Fayette Buck's exhibit of mounted animals. ca 1900s-1930s - Fayette Buck (1874-1964) and his family were pioneers in northern Wisconsin in the late 1800's. They owned and operated Buck's Spider Lake Resort in Manitowish Waters and the Divide Resort in Winchester. Fayette was quite a guide and trapper in his younger years. He traveled extensively showing his exhibit of mounted animals.

Fayette Buck's narrative about moving to Wisconsin for trapping and later establishing the Divide and Spider Lake Resorts with his father. 1874-1908 - This was written by Fay and cut from the brochure for the Divide Resort. 9. George LaPorte displaying beavers from his trap line. Early 1930's - Trapping was a source of income and survival for early pioneers. George sold his furs to traders in Oshkosh, St. Louis, Minneapolis and Chicago. He felt he was always paid fairly for the pelts.

Growing Up on Alder Lake by Ella Loveless Kassien 1872-1942 - A narrative written by Ella Loveless Kassien discussing the life of her father, Robert (Bob) Loveless.The narrative covers his time in Manitowish Waters including his sawmill, Virgin Forest Park and store along Highway 10. It reveals what life was like for early settlers in this area. Ella also shares memories of growing up on Alder Lake with her siblings.

Guide Marty Cain's fishing journal. mid to late 1960's - This calendar journal contain's Marty Cain's written notes with landmarks and hand drawn maps detailing good fishing spots for lakes on the Manitowish Chain and in Winchester. He also lists results of his trapping and hunting efforts. 1/1 - 8/12: detailed descriptions and maps of fishing spots 8/24 - 12./22: lists clients, the day's catch and other guides 12/21 to end of book: trapping results and "good set" locations

14. Trapper's diary noting daily weather, hunting and trapping experiences and occasional trips to Winchester Nov 1914 - July 1915 - This diary was found by Sidney and Miriam Vinje in 1968 when they purchased property on Little Papoose Lake in Winchester. The author may have been from Elgin, IL. The Devines were friends and helped teach the author about hunting, trapping and surviving winter in the Northwoods. Included is the handwritten journal as well as a typed transcription.

15. Trapping License of John Donahue 1921 - Prentiss - Big Lake Collection - Trapping License of John Donahue who murdered Jack Powers in Jan 1922. This letter is from the Church of the Holy Comfoter's Reverand Canon Leland Hobart Danforth to Harold B. Keith. Rev. Danforth mentions in the letter he is enlcosing the trapping license of the man who ended up murdering Jack Powers in January 1922. The postmark on the letter is June 4, 1956.
