  1. William Strandberg moved to Manitowish Lake with his mother, Annie, in 1904. By 1914 he had a cottage home on the Rest Lake channel by Stone Lake. Bill passed away in 1935. - Attached is a news clipping about Bill proving his homestead, a map showing his home by Stone Lake and obituaries for he and his mother.

  3. Williamson's Stone Lake Cottages. Chamber of Commerce advertisements 1936-1946 - Brothers Charles and Peter purchased the property in 1935 from Jessie Doriot (though Peter co-owned part of it since 1914). They sold the resort to Merle and Evelyn Peterson in 1955. The Williamsons only advertised sporadiacally in the Chamber guides.

  4. Willis Sullivan Meeting Room added to Frank B. Koller Memorial Library. 1988 - The Robert Sullivan family donated the funds to construct this addition in memory of their father/grandfather. The Sullivan family were pioneers in Hurley, WI and long time Manitowish Water summer residents.

  5. Win-Mar ads for cabin rentals and puppies for sale. 1943-1963 - After the Win-Mar burned in 1945, it was rebuilt on the west side of the highway (currently the Pea Patch). They continued to rent cabins on Vance Lake.

  7. Work on Highway 51 bridge reconstruction is completed. 7/1/1949 - New clipping detailing the celebration and first vehicles to cross the newly reconstructed bridge. Work began on 9/15/1948 and finished 6/17/1949. Click on the link to read the clipping.   9. Ye Olde Shillelagh 2014-3/22/2024 when fire destroyed the building - Owned by Craig Vanark. The food and atmosphere were changed to an Irish theme. The attached motel units were closed. The bottle cap chain loops above the windows (from the Koehler ownership days) were retained. Located at 14202 Tower Road
